Long wooden rod. Both ends have chiselled areas - to thread rope through. These sections are flat, whereas the rest of the rod is rounded. Written on the front (that is the flat side) is "His Honor (sic) The Supert (sic) of Otago" Used by the local rocket brigade as part of their efforts to rescue people from ships during storms.
