Clayton railcar at Kurow, c. 1926. Matthew Potts (fireman) is standing in the centre. The Clayton railcar service lasted from 1926 to 1928, after which time the train serviced the Invercargill to Bluff line.The Clayton Railcar was replaced by a standard steam train because of the event of the Waitaki Hydo scheme and an increase in passenger numbers.
