Bridge Hotel, Kurow. J O'Neill, proprietor from c 1894 - c 1900. The Bridge Hotel as it was in the late 1800s. This hotel was in Station Street next to the Kurow railway station. It was destroyed by fire 6 October 1908, when the owner was Mrs Delargy and the licensee Mr J Cahill. The railway station was built 50 yards to the left. the horse on the right is the sire "Stanley". The Waitaki Hotel (built in 1940) replaces this building.

Mr Arthur Munro is shown in 1915 with the first motor car to travel regularly from Kurow to Omarama. The bus was owned by Mr T A Munro of Kurow. Of interest in the photograph is the G R (George Rex) sign which shows that the vehicle was used to carry His Majesty's mail. Livery stables.
