The medal is round and made of silver. The obverse of the medal depicts a Royal Crown superimposed over a crossed sword and sceptre and surrounded by fern fronds. The reverse bears the inscription FOR LONG AND EFFICIENT SERVICE. The medal's suspension is a ring, which passes through a loop fixed to the top of the piece.The medal is suspended from a ribbon crimson in colour with two central white stripes (this medal would have originally been issued with a plain crimson ribbon.)
Engraved around the rim of the medal is "No 79 Sert. Robt Munro. Nth Dunedin Rifle Vols. (1901). North Dunedin Rifle Volunteers Medal. |
