William Edward Gordon, Oamaru confectioner. Employed by W J Chilcott, Thames Street, Oamaru, 1907 - 1912. After this time Mr Gordon worked as a storeman for Darling and McDowell in Harbour Street and undertook freelance confectionery-making for local businesses such as J S Bee and L and E Carter. Some of his confectionery-making equipment is in the museum's collection.

The gentleman on the left, (sitting) is Rodney "Rod" Lee, born 28 May 1891, died 25 Nov 1989. The elder gentleman with the cane is Ernest Page Lee, born about 1863, died 19th Feb, 1932. He was the brother of Fanny Laura Snell Lee, who married John Bulleid. The gentleman standing behind is Croyden Lee, son of Herbert Lee, younger brother to Ernest Lee. (Ernest had no children) The little girl is Sylvia Lee, born 1916 who later in life married Cecil Nightingale. Cecil was the son of Thomas Nightingale.
From Pip Lee, grandaughter of Croydon Lee, Aug 2023. The gentleman standing is Gordon Lee, brother of Rodney and the man with the cane is their father Tom Lee who was a boat builder at Moeraki. Sylvia is Rodney Lee's daughter. This family is no relation to EP and Croydon Lee. |
