W L Bell, a Pioneer of the Waitaki County. Mr Bell was once a partner with Mr J Murchison in the Birchwood cattle run (in Ohau). He was a blacksmith in Ostler's (one of the first families in Benmore) time in Benmore and also at Otekaike. When at Benmore he helped Mr Harry Shacklock, a cook, to make the first Shacklock range. When Mr Bell retired he took up a few acres of land at Otekaike. Otekaieke
