	British War Medal	McMillan, William (b.1887, d.1977)	Circa 1919	The obverse of this medal shows the uncrowned left-facing profile of King George V by Sir Bertram Mackennal. The reverse of the medal depicts St George on horseback trampling underfoot the eagle shield of the Central Powers, and a skull and cross-bones (the emblems of death). Above, the sun has risen in victory. The figure is mounted on horseback to symbolise man's mind controlling a force of greater strength than his own, and thus alludes to the scientific and mechanical developments and machines which helped to win the war. Issued to Stanley Frederick Bartrum. Number 25177 Private 2nd Battalion 8th Southland Regiment 1st NZEF. Born Kurow 10 February 1895 married Gladys May Townsley 1924 at St Luke’s. Died Oamaru Hospital 26th May 1985, buried Oamaru Lawn Cemetery. After the war he farmed in Kyeburn and then 1939 - 1985 he lived at Herbert (in old Presbyterian manse). He was a hen farmer and bee keeper. Note: Ribbon accessioned with this medal is the ribbon for the Victory Medal so it is the incorrect ribbon for this medal.

	Cheese Keep	Philip Ashberry and Sons	1896	A silver-plated cheese keep. Presented to J.H. Milligan, tailor, following the voluntary payment of his debts after his bankruptcy in 1885. A - Silver-plated dish of keep 4 legs and decoration on edges. "BRITANNIA. PHILIP ASHBERRY AND SONS. SHEFFIELD 921 M" B - Silver-plated lid "TO J. H. MILLIGAN, AS A MARK OF APPRECIATION OF COMMERCIAL INTEGRITY. 1896." Ornate handle.
	Dux Medal		1887	Round silver medal shaped like a double Maltese cross. The centre is engraved "DUX GIRL ANNIE GILL NORTH SCHOOL Oamaru 1888". On the reverse is "PRESENTED BY H CONNELL". Surrounding the centre is scrolled sections. Ring at the top.
