A silver-plated cheese keep. Presented to J.H. Milligan, tailor, following the voluntary payment of his debts after his bankruptcy in 1885.

A - Silver-plated dish of keep 4 legs and decoration on edges. "BRITANNIA. PHILIP ASHBERRY AND SONS. SHEFFIELD 921 M"

B - Silver-plated lid "TO J. H. MILLIGAN, AS A MARK OF APPRECIATION OF COMMERCIAL INTEGRITY. 1896." Ornate handle.

A vase shaped bottle with a dark brown glaze. The item has been damaged revealing the colour of the light brown clay it is made from.

The following information is from a note that was donated with the item. Pottery Jar from Murphys Flat Chinese camp near Macraes. These were imported from China usually with Tiger Whiskey, a Chinese rice whiskey.

A floral, Victorian table decoration. It is an example of a then popular craft, consisting of flowers made from human hair. The flowers and foliage are constructed by wrapping the hair around pieces of wire and then shaping it. Typically the hair was boiled first. A variety of different coloured hair has been used and some of the flowers also have beaded details. Coloured thread has been used in places to hold the hair to the lengths of metal wire. The arrangement is on a yellow satin base and is then contained within a glass dome with a wooden base.

This item was made by Mrs R. McDowell (nee Mary Bryce Bee) of Weston, North Otago in 1895. At this time she would have been around 25 years. She died aged 29 very soon after the birth of her only child, Horace Bee McDowell.

A large decorative glass apothecary jar for display in a chemist shop. Painted white with polychrome and gold decoration and a blue lid.

Labelled "Magnesia" with decorated gold leaves. Above this is the Royal Coat of Arms with the lion and the unicorn.

Originally displayed in Lanes Chemist Tees Street, Oamaru.

This china tea set was a wedding gift to Mr and Mrs Malcolm in 1889 from Mr Mowatt of Mowatt and Anderson, Flour Millers, Harbour Street.

C - Teapot with pink and gold border. 4 holes go into the spout.
D - Sugar bowl lid with pink and gold border.
