Horse team pulling hay (?) cart at Omarama. The profile of the hill beyond the horse rider is that of Riverside Station. This property represents the amalgamation of three former soldier settlement blocks following the "split up" of Benmore Station in 1916. Each of the three blocks was around 1000 acres in which returning servicemen from the first world war could make application for a block through a ballot process.
The section of hill country in the background and left of the loaded hay wagon is part of Quailburn Downs.
The stream that the wagon is fording is most probably the Omarama Stream.
