On 7 March 1903 at Hampden, Mary Nichol saved Julia GRIFFIN from drowning, but two others were drowned in a boating accident. Reference photo only, no high resolution image.
Mrs Nichol never spoke about the incident and kept the certificate in her wardrobe. |

Tin Trunk

A small tin trunk used to hold documents. This trunk belonged to Sir John McKenzie, Palmerston. The trunk has a handle at each end. The trunk is lockable, though there is no key with it. The exterior of the trunk is painted black. "Hon. John McKenzie" is painted in white on the trunk's lid. The interior of the trunk is painted red.

Oamaru Harbour Board Chairman's chair. Large wooden chair with a high back. Four legs, each with a castor on the end. The seat, back and arms are padded with brown leather. The arms and back are ornately carved.
