Circa 1864
Wooden trunk that belonged to James Little of Corriedale. Used by James in 1864 when he came to Canterbury, New Zealand as a shepherd.
Quite plain on outside. Opening the lid one finds a deep recess with, near the top, a small unlidded compartment. On the bottom of this compartment, are two little drawers, 245mm long x 142mm wide x 55mm high. One of the drawers has a small brass ring as a handle (the other one is missing). There is a large drawer beneath the main compartment. The lid has two, black metal hinges, rather narrow. Written in pencil inside the lid is James Little - Baittaws [?], Lamington, 1862'.
