The medal is silver, circular, with a straight bar suspender ornamented with New Zealand fern fronds.

The obverse shows an effigy of Queen Victoria, facing left and wearing a diadem and veil, with the legend: VICTORIA D: G: BRITT : REG : F : D.

The reverse has a laurel wreath "NEW ZEALAND // VIRTUTIS HONOR" " 1863 // TO // 1865".

The ribbon is blue with a red centre stripe.

Around the edge is engraved "2292. SERGT. SAML. KING 70TH REGT."

The medal is round and made of silver. The obverse of the medal depicts a Royal Crown superimposed over a crossed sword and sceptre and surrounded by fern fronds. The reverse bears the inscription FOR LONG AND EFFICIENT SERVICE. The medal's suspension is a ring, which passes through a loop fixed to the top of the piece.The medal is suspended from a crimson ribbon.

A = Gilt Maltese cross with red enamel circle to centre. On one side is what looks like the Serbian Royal Arms, and eagle with fleur de lis beneath and on the reverse is Cyrillic writing "‘For Mercy’ circumscribed ‘For Tending the Wounded and the Sick 1912’".

B = Triangular folded piece of pale blue moiré ribbon.

The War Medal 1939-1945. Silver. On the obverse of this medal is the effigy of King George VI. On the reverse is a triumphant lion trampling on a dragon symbolising the Axis powers. The ribbon is the red, white, and blue of the (British) Union Flag. There is a narrow central red stripe with a narrow white stripe on either side. There are broad red stripes at either edge, the two intervening stripes being blue.

Awarded to donor’s father Ivan McDonald.

The obverse depicts the diademed head of a young Queen Victoria with the legend VICTORIA REGINA.
The reverse shows a helmeted Britannia holding a wreath in her right hand and a union shield on her left arm. She is standing in front of a lion. Above is the word INDIA, with the dates 1857-1858 below.
The ribbon is white with two scarlet stripes, with each stripe of equal width.

Engraved around the rim is "2292 SERG.T SAML. KING, 70TH REGT".

The medal was struck in silver and is a disk. The obverse depicts a Trophy of Arms that incorporates a central shield bearing the Royal Coat of Arms. The reverse of the medal is smooth with a raised rim and bears the inscription "FOR LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT" in four straight lines in the centre. The ribbon is plain crimson.

Engraved on the side is 2292 SergT. Saml. King, 70th Regt.

The Volunteer Long Service Medal in silver with a raised rim on each side. It is suspended from a straight swivelling silver bar, affixed to the medal by means of a claw and a pin through the upper edge of the medal.

The obverse of the medal depicts the effigy of Queen Victoria wearing the Crown, a veil and the Star of the Order of the Garter. The effigy is circumscribed "VICTORIA REGINA".

The reverse shows a palm and laurel wreath that supports a scrolled banner bearing the inscription "FOR LONG SERVICE IN THE VOLUNTEER FORCE" in four lines.

Engraved on the rim is "Donald Reid, Late Captain Bruce Rifle Vols 1898."
