Object Detail
Description
An early O'Brien of a panoramic view across from Pukeuri Hill in 1872. Painted prior to the construction of the breakwater and the farming boom of the 1880s, the painting depicts a well ordered and tranquil rural scene with the small but growing Oamaru nestling in the lee of Cape Wanbrow. Three sailing ships are moored at the roadstead.
