Description
Eric Blomfield's Sawmill, near the corner of Orwell Street (east) and Thames Highway, c. 1949. From left: Bob Kyles (sawyer), John Joseph Ward (Jack or Joe), Eric Blomfield (owner), ? Whittaker. (Jack Ward was later a roadman at Pukeuri, responsible for maintenance of ditches, etc. He also owned his own sawbench and supplemented his income this way.) Athol Martin Collection.
