People standing in front of shops on the corner of Thames and Wear Streets Oamaru, east side. Miss Hilda Mary Elsie Bunce first at left, and Jeanette (Jean) Burns, of The Bristola. Men unidentified. Crombie Cash Grocer, Lewis's shop - Coats and Frocks, The Bristola - pianos, music, Singer sewing machines. The Provident Life Assurance Company Limited. Miss Baxter - Dressmaking in the upper window. By the year 1946 Miss Bunce was running a dressmaking business and also taught dressmaking classes in the front rooms above The Bristola.
