Description
Linda Jones was the grand daughter of George Jones and sister of Dorothy H Jones (artist). Elizabeth Coote born 1844 Cootehill County Cavan Ireland. Married Irvin Hurst in the 1860s in Onehunga, Auckland. Came to Oamaru in 1875. Died in 1909. (North Otago Early Settlers' Association, 1993)

Elizabeth and her twin sister were 'born downstairs', and eventually were sent as teenagers to NZ, when both their parents had died. On the voyage Elizabeth met and later married the ship's carpenter Irvin Hurst. Linda was born in 1899, and it looks like she is about ten in the photo. Note that Dorothy Jones's middle name is Hurst.
