Granny Bulleid (Fanny nee Lee) built the house, before John (her husband) died. One half for herself to live in and the other as an investment. A Bank Manager lived in the east one (nearest the Church) and the McDouall Family in the west. When she vacated Pen-Y-Bryn around 1919, she moved into the west one, taking some of the furniture with her. She died following a series of strokes in 1924. In the 1930's, Leah (her daughter) would have lived in the east one, when her husband Bob Macdonald, retired from his bank position in Balclutha. Leah died in 1936, & Bob in the 1950's and their daughter remained in the house, until about 1960 when the house was sold. She died in '63.
