I have not seen this photo before but it is of Constable Thomas Graham who was my great-grandfather. He was born in Omagh, Tyrone and came to NZ on the Mallard with his sister Margaret and brother Harry in 1870. He settled briefly in Lower Matakana before joining the armed constabulary in 1875. He married my great-grandmother Kate Dempsey in Christchurch in 1886 and joined the newly formed NZ Police force, serving in Temuka, Waimate, Ngapara and Outram where he died aged about 51 years in 1908, leaving a wife and 3 children - Gertrude Aquinas, Ernest Gabriel and Leonard (my grandfather).
