Description
"Compliments of the Season 1882". Thames Street. W. Robertson written on reverse.
From right: Dunedin Co-operative Store; Mollison and Son, boot store; N.Z.Clothing Factory; W.Menzies, clothier and draper; R.H. Cathcart, jeweller. (The buildings containing the above were built in 1876, the northern [Waitaki House] a few months before southern)
R.L. Rule, stationer; T. Falconer, furniture; W.H. Cottrell, fancy goods (two storeyed). [These three shops were removed and others built 1887]
A. Headland, grocer; J. Bulleid & Co, drapers.
Beyond can be seen Waterloo House, the Imperial Hotel, and the three- storeyed London House, occupied at the time by R Gabites, draper. The new Queen's Hotel can be seen, and the Globe Hotel, the last large building in the row.
