Description
Phoenix Mill. Established 1871. Owned by Spence and Grave from 1872. Original mill-wheel 30 feet in diameter, manufactured by Reid and Gray, Oamaru. Mill sold to Lewis Morton in 1878. New water-wheel erected in 1878. This was 34 feet in diameter and manufactured by local firm Jack, Steel and Hendry. (This wheel remains.)
