Description
First train to leave Oamaru for Waitaki on the opening of the Oamaru - Waitaki Railway Line, Saturday 25 Sept 1875. The bridge was not completed until the following year nor was the connection with Waimate .The first train journey from Oamaru to Christchurch was on 1 Feb 1877. See reports in the North Otago Times.
