In this pic the length of the breakwater can be fully appreciated and Sumpters Wharf is not yet fully built. A pile driver? is at the end of the wharf but little activity shows except what appears to be stocks of timber piles in readiness for further work on the wharf. I have estimated the number of piles to be about 300 for the finished wharf - a mammoth task of pile driving.
