This is the Waitaki River taken from Aviemore Station. The old buildings are still there. My Great Grandfather owned the Station at one time. My mother Christian Blackstock (nee Shirres) used to tell the story that my Great Grandfather would swim the River at this point to get the row boat moored on the otherside. He would row back to collect my Great Grandmother, the children and picnic basket and row back across the River. On return he would drop my Grandmother etc then row the boat back then swim home again.
