Start of Breakwater Oamaru 1872. First block of breakwater laid 10 September 1872. Large crane (built by Kincaid and McQueen) arrived 3 August 1873. The crane contractors and staff are shown. Sitting: Walkem. Standing: Peyman. On footplank at left is Thomas Forrester.
