Person standing by shop in background. Left to right:1st 2-storey building built 1880 for H.W. Marshall. 2nd 2-storey building built 1876 Ross, Bootmaker, J. McArthur, Butcher. Upstairs, St James Hall (building demolished 1906); 3rd 2-storey building built 1867 for Jas White, J & H Fry Butchers 1877-81; next 2 shop occupants unknown; J. Main, Seedsman; J.Isles, photographer and hairdresser built 2-storey shop 1868, succeeded by A. Sergeant, photographer 1879; John Church, agent; James Scott, grocer, shop built for Clark and Paterson, grocers, 1867; Watson and McIntosh, ironmongers, 1868; E.G.Lane, chemist 1868.
